The Patricia Kind Family Foundation is a private, not-for-profit philanthropic organization, established in 1996 with a gift from the estates of Hedwig and Arnold Louis van Ameringen, parents of Patricia Kind. The Foundation is family managed and believes strongly in the importance of supporting families.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Foundation is to financially support non-profit organizations that help children, adults, and seniors obtain basic human needs, including food, shelter, clothing, education, and physical and mental health care. We are especially committed to helping individuals and families who struggle daily with the effects of poverty.

The Foundation is interested in encouraging practical, caring solutions to community problems by supporting preventive and direct service efforts. The Patricia Kind Family Foundation operates no programs of its own, but performs its mission by funding proven approaches from non-profit 501(c)3 organizations operating in the five-county Philadelphia region.

A Look Back at Ten Years of Giving


The Winter application cycle is CLOSED. All programs that submitted grant requests by the January 15th deadline have been notified that their application was received. Proposals are now under review.

Our Board met last month to make funding decisions for applications submitted during the Fall grant cycle and all decision letters have been mailed.

The Spring application cycle - for possible funding in August - begins on April 1 and closes on May 1.

Please be sure to fully review our Application Procedures and Guidelines (listed under Application Process) to ensure that you are eligible to apply before submitting an application.

Reports for grantees who received funding in April, 2011 are due in March. The online reporting link will be activated on March 1st.

To access your grant report click on the "Application Process" tab in the top menu bar and then "Online Application". You must use the same log-in created for your application in order to access and complete the report.
